NexGen Exterior Home Remodeling recently completed a full rear deck replacement in Coatesville, PA, transforming a worn, dark-stained wood deck into a beautiful, low-maintenance outdoor living space designed for everyday enjoyment. Working alongside Nick Freeth, Remodeling Consultant, and Steve Magiera, Project Manager, our team removed the existing deck and built a brand-new composite deck from the ground up using premium Trex® materials that will perform beautifully for years to come.
The original rear deck had reached the end of its lifespan, with weathered wood that required continual maintenance and no longer provided the welcoming outdoor space the homeowners envisioned. NexGen demolished the entire existing deck and supporting structure before constructing a new deck built to current township code requirements, ensuring a safe, durable foundation for years of outdoor living.
A unique goal for this project was creating a more comfortable backyard space for the homeowners’ dog to enjoy. Because the existing dark-stained wood decking became extremely hot during the summer, the homeowners selected Trex Enhance® decking in Honey Grove, which features SunComfortable™ Heat-Mitigating Technology to help reduce heat buildup compared to previous generations of Trex decking. The lighter Honey Grove color, paired with this innovative technology, creates a more comfortable surface for both the family and their four-legged companion to enjoy throughout the warmer months.
The Trex Enhance® Honey Grove decking offers warm, natural wood tones with subtle color variation while delivering the durability homeowners expect from composite decking. Unlike traditional wood, Trex decking resists fading, staining, splintering, rot, and insect damage, eliminating the need for annual sanding, staining, or sealing. Manufactured from 95% recycled and reclaimed materials, it provides an environmentally responsible, low-maintenance solution built to withstand Pennsylvania’s changing seasons.
To complete the project, NexGen installed Trex® White Railing, creating a timeless contrast against the warm Honey Grove decking while providing long-lasting strength, safety, and minimal maintenance. Decorative lattice skirting gives the deck a clean, finished appearance by concealing the framing beneath and enhancing the overall look of the backyard.
